The Express entered the BCHL in 2001 under an ownership group of hockey enthusiasts led by Vancouver Canuck alumni Darcy Rota. The BCHL’s goal is to develop high level student athletes and "smart hockey” refers to our commitment to education, and to the intelligent, fast-paced style of play characteristic of our league. BCHL rules foster an environment where skilled athletes have an opportunity to showcase their abilities, further develop as players and people, and secure scholarships to take the next step in their academic and athletic futures. The Express has graduated over 50 players that have accepted scholarships to top universities and colleges in Canada and the United States. Our alumni include the following NHL players; Milan Lucic (Boston Bruins), David Jones (Colorado Avalanche), Brandon Yip (Nashville Predators) and Andrew Ladd (Winnipeg Jets).
In 2006, the Express won the RBC National Championship and one of the members of that team, Kyle Turris, was drafted in the 1st round, 3rd overall (Ottawa Senators), and is the highest drafted Junior "A” hockey player in history.
